The East Prairie High School Football Program began in 1923 with W.F.Zimmerman as its first Head Coach. In 1932, the Eagles established their first winning season under 1st year Head Coach Berry Law. In 1950, the Eagles made their first playoff appearance under Head Coach Bobby Dodd. They eventually lost to Perryville to end an 8 win and 3 loss season.
In 1975, the Eagles once again made the MSHSAA playoffs. This time under Coach Ed Nichols, the Eagles achieved a 9-2 record. The best in Eagle football history at the time! They would eventually lose to John Burroughs in sectionals.
Coach Ed Nichols second campaign would also prove to be fruitful. In two years as Head Coach, the Eagles accrued a record of 19 wins and 5 losses. Nichols second stint as Head Coach led to the best two year record in East Prairie football history. During his tenure, the Eagles won two district titles, a sectional title, and a state semi-final appearance.
The Eagles have had All State selections over the years. Danny Lee Johnson and Richard Thurmond were selected in the 1970s. Jason Aycock and Chris Johnson were selected in 1994. Paris Tipler was an All State Running Back in 2005.
The Eagles have also had four SEMO South Conference Lineman of the Year. In 1993 Ed Williams and in 1994 Rocket Porter were selected for the honor. Jacob Poore was selected in 2003 and Tony Jones received the honor in 2006.
